Maarten A. van Schijndel MD MSc

psychiatrist and researcher

Maarten van Schijndel MD MSc is psychiatrist and one of the attending physicians of the Rijnstate Medical Psychiatry Unit since March, 2016.

He graduated from the Radboud University Nijmegen in 2009. After that, he worked as a physician physician at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, with an internship in acute psychiatry and addiction care within Antes.

From 2010 to 2012 he was chairman of the Dutch Assistant Association of Psychiatry Association, and from 2012-2014 member of the Working Group of Reinforcement Hospital Psychiatry, co-author of the Field Psychology Medical Psychiatric Units (2014) and secretary of the Generic Module Hospital Psychiatry (2017).

Maarten van Schijndel conducts research research into the organization and cost effectiveness of MPUs at Erasmus University and has a post-graduate master’s degree in Health Sciences, towards clinical epidemiology at the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES). From 2014 until 2016, he worked as a staff member and medical coordinator for outpatient clinics, day care, consultation and liaison psychiatry at the Erasmus MC Department of Psychiatry in Rotterdam.
